Biography of  SRN Rachel Grech


Rachel is currently Practice Nurse in the Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (NPICU) at Mater Dei Hospital Malta and is responsible for the continuous professional education of a team of over 80 nurses & midwives. Rachel obtained her degree in Nursing from the University of Malta in 2004 and then graduated further with a master’s degree in healthcare management & leadership from Idea College, in which her research focused on ‘Nurses’ and Midwives’ attitudes towards Continuing Professional Education’. Rachel is a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta having co-ordinated the paediatric nursing module delivered to undergraduate nursing students from 2021 to 2024. She continues to lecture on general paediatrics and also paediatric critical care. Rachel has taught on the Diploma course for non-EU nurses by the University of Malta in 2023 and also on the adaptation course for non-EU nurses, organized by the Council for Nurses and Midwives between 2021 to 2023. Rachel has been a mentor and assessor for undergraduate Nursing students with the University of Malta since 2018. She is one of the faculty on various accredited courses teaching neonatal and paediatric life Support and paediatric palliative care. Rachel has a passion for music and singing and is a regular chorister with KorMalta & VOCA. She is also a solo performer and a backing vocalist for several established local artists.
